Neko

July 03, 2013

Huda has these two beautiful angels. I'm in love with them, I wish I could grab them, put em in my bag and bring them home. But that's impossible because I have Smokee, an alpha male who refuses to come to term with any felines other than his 'sister', Tigger. They are old now so I just call them the Grumpy Grandpa and Grumpy Grandma.

Come to think of it I always capture pictures of my very own furkids and post them here because they make me happy every time. I really should get my kit lens fixed asap, yes? I miss home, I miss my cats. I really can't wait for Friday, meeeeps.
p/s: Tagging my pictures of cats and cat-related posts with 'cats' because I aspire to be a crazy cat lady meowmeowmeow.

Feline Signs Of Love

March 21, 2013

Found some great facts about cats:
Cats can and do show affection to both their feline companions and the humans in their lives. They communicate their love with a variety of physical behaviors, some more obvious than others. The degree of affection a cat shows people will depend on how socialized the cat is, the cat’s personality and how much they trust the person. Because of this, your cat may show you all or just some of the following feline signs of love.

Soft Eyes
Also know as eye blinks, sleepy eyes or kitty kisses, soft eyes are when a cat purposely looks directly at you and slowly blinks their eyes. They may even keep them closed for a few seconds before opening them and looking at you once again. The correct response is to slowly blink your eyes back at them to tell them that you reciprocate their trust and affection. And don’t be afraid to be the one to initiate these kitty kisses. Many a cat has been calmed and reassured by a human giving them soft eyes.

Allorubbing
Feline allorubbing is for cats what a hug or a handshake is for a human. It is a positive and social behavior that happy and healthy cats display. When cats allorub, they rub their heads, bodies and tails against a person to say hello and show that they like you. Allorubbing can be mixed with the cat winding its way between and around your feet and legs.Cats will usually allorub when they are happy to see you when you enter the room they are in. Although they have also been know to allorub when they are happy you are about to feed them – it is still a sign of affection!

Head butting
Head butting is also known as bunting and is a sign of affection and trust. When a cat is happy to see you, they will frequently greet you with a head-butt to your hand (a kitty high five), leg, face or whatever other body part happens to be handy.Instinctually, head butting may also be a way for your cat to claim you for their own. When a cat head butts, they deposit facial pheromones on people or objects in their environment – an aroma that humans cannot smell but other cats can. Your cat loves you so much that they want the world to know you are theirs.

Rolling
You may see your cat throw itself down on the ground in front of you and roll over. Or they may roll when you are sitting next to them, in each instance exposing their belly.A cat’s belly is one of the most vulnerable parts of their body, so when a cat exposes their tummy to you, they are showing extreme trust.Rolling is a way for a cat to seek your attention. It is also their way of giving you a loving greeting. Many cats love having their belly rubbed by the humans in their life who they love and trust enough to roll for. As you pet their belly, they may relax so much that they fall asleep on their back with all four paws in the air. This is a sign of total trust and unconditional love.Remember that your cat feels very vulnerable when they show their belly, so if the cat indicates to you that they are done with belly rubs respect their choice and let them stand up.

Kneading
Kneading involves the rhythmic stretching and treading of a cat’s front paws. It is also called making bread or making biscuits.A cat first kneads during its kitten hood when it uses this motion while nursing to encourage milk to be released from the mother cat – an extremely blissful time for a kitten. As they age, cats continue to knead when they are content and extremely happy – a throw back to the joyful and stress free time of kitten hood.A petting session with their favorite human can certainly result in a cat making lots of biscuits. Cats have been known to knead even when they are just being held in the arms of the people they know, love and trust. For your cat, kneading in response to your touch is an obvious expression of adoration.

Licking
Cats will lick you in two fashions – a quick lick that is the equivalent of a peck on the cheek and a longer licking session in which they “groom” you.For cat, grooming another animal or person is an act of love and caring. So when your cat spends time licking you, they believe they are taking good care of you.Not everyone likes the feel of a cat’s scratchy tongue. If you are not comfortable with your cat grooming you, discourage them in a kind and gentle way since they think they are showering you with love and cannot understand why you don’t like it.

Nose tap
Though more rare, a nose tap from a cat is an extreme sign of affection. A nose tap is the most common form of communication between cats that are friends. The first time you experience a kitty nose tap you may be a bit startled as it is unexpected.Your cat may start out with a gentle tap to your nose with its paw. In this manner they are feeling their way and working up to a nose to nose tap.As with soft eyes, you can be the one to initiate a nose tap with your cat if you are so inclined and know that the cat trusts you enough to go face to faced with you.Cats are extremely expressive if you know what to look for. I feel badly for the cats who are trying their hardest to convey their love for their human only to have their efforts ignored because the person doesn’t know the feline language of love.
(I don't know what went wrong with quote code. Tried to fix it but failed. Oh well.)
I miss my cats. Can't wait to be back at home tomorrow.

While I was doing a little project earlier today (which I will share, soon) this fella came up to me demanding attention. You can never say no to your furkids. Never.

DIY: Cardboard Scratch Pad

June 13, 2012

Many moons ago, I have all these cardboard boxes laying around so I decided to make Tigger a scratch pad! Tigger is such a lucky cat for having such loving, caring, thoughtful and cute owner servant ohohoho. Anyways, I'm gonna share with you how I made it because well, it may be useful.

Trust me, your might need one when your sofas or carpets become the victims of your cats' scratchings. Or if you're lazy, you can always buy one. Many petstores have this. Even Daiso has them. But I'm all for free things because I'm cheap :P

So to make one you will need the following:

  • Cardboard boxes
  • Cutter
  • Ruler
  • Glue
  • Cutting mat

Now let's start, shall we?
Cut the boxes into the desired length and width.
Mine were about 19 inches long and 1 inch wide.
Cut and cut and cut until you're sick of cutting.
Or until you've reached the amount of boxes strips that you wanted.
Start glueing.
Be generous while you're at it because you don't want the boxes to break apart due to your cats' vicious scratchings. You can use double-sided tapes too.
Stick the boxes togetherrrr.
Stick them till you're satisfied with the size, or the surface area for your cats to scratch on.
Mine is pretty small because I got distracted *sweats*
The princess in action, scratching that pad with no mercy whatsoever.

That's it! Easy peasy. Now go make one for your furkids. They'll be very happy :D

EDIT: You can sprinkle some catnips on the cardboard to attract your cats. Thanks for the tip, Lisa!

Things That Made Me Smile Recently

March 07, 2012

Seeing this flower bloom each morning.
Chicken barbeque.
Tigger being herself; an ever so curious explorer.
Jelly with the furkids' new toy.
Smokee. Praying he'll get better though.
Seeing the boys of the house getting excited over their new ride.
Seeing the most perfect potential son-in-law all mothers would want live.
Blog about this later when I'm free.
(Pic stolen from Nazie for the time being hurhurhur)
Early birthday present from Ayah.

Furkids

December 17, 2011

Blergh.
My mind needed a break so Nazie and I went to Bandar Melaka today so that a) Nazie could find things for her assignments and b) I could run away from real life doing my assignments for a moment again.

And we finally watched Puss In Boots!
It was so-so. I was more excited before watching it. I guess annoying Humpty Dumpty ruined the excited-ness for me.
Don't you just feel like smacking his face?
Or crack him and make a perfect omelet.
But that'd be disgusting.
*shudders*

On Football update:
I'm not at all excited for the Club World Cup final on Sunday. Villa has joined Ibi in the long-term injury list. *facepalm* I don't really care about the title as all I wish for is for our boys to be injury free for the rest of the season. But if we win, it'd be a sweet tribute for Villa.
Get well soon Guaje!
Because I want to.

Anyways, now that Mar has taken Julia the Fluffy Bunny away for the weekend, I'm kinda missing my four legged companions. Sure enough, apart from my family, delicious foods, cozy bed and pillows, Astro and awesome internet connection, my cats are what I'm really missing for not being at home. *le sigh*

Speaking of cats, haaaave you met Jelly?:
Behold Senor Jelly, The Mighty Pencen Cat
Jelly is a stray. When we first moved to Ampang, he was always hiding in the drain in front of our house. Long story cut short, we fed him and he's been living in our front porch ever since. Btw, we called him Jelly because a) we thought he was a girl and b) he had permanent injury that causes his back legs to wobble when he walks, like a jelly wtf.

Now, now, although somewhat similar, he is not to be confused with Smokee:
This fat boy here is Smokee.
And this is of course, Miss Poop-A-Lot, Tigger.

I love my cats.
:')

She's Missing

An eight years-old domestic female cat.
Last seen at our new home in Taman TAR, Ampang.
Worst case scenario is she may be finding her way back to our old house in Taman Melawati, right now.
If you by any chances have seen her, please contact me.

Tigger, please come home.

Shooting Stars

August 09, 2011

I've been working on with my Minor project since dawn. I'm tired of it but I can't stop. We have a pre-assessment first thing tomorrow. I shivered thinking about the other assignments I have. Advert, 2D animation, web design, etc. I hope I can finish all of them on time.
Pictures of Smokee because I need to smile.
I have mixed feelings right now. Something happened and I'm bothered by it. It is still very much a doubt but the thought of it actually being true shatters my heart. I don't what I'd do if it is actually the truth. It would probably kill me. I can't keep the thoughts about it off my mind. It is affecting me. It is going in the way of me doing my work. I can't think straight. I'm just too disturbed by it.

If it is true, how could he?

I feel like crying but I can't afford being emotional now. I tried putting this matter to the side but it keeps on coming back, haunting me till some point I just don't know what to do anymore but to call someone. At least I can get it off my chest for a bit.

God is really testing me.
God is really testing us.
All I can do now is to pray for His guidance and blessing.
Amin.

Hello fellow Earthlings.
I've abandoned this blog for quite a while. Well I doubt anybody misses me since all I ever blog about nowadays is football anyway. I'm in serious need of a life. Sheesh *facepalm*

Anyways, after much tears are shed, hairs were pulled and nails damaged, the brutal fourth semester has officially ended. And for that I am truly grateful. I can't bear with all the pressure any longer I even considered quitting once. Thankfully I have friends who can knock some sense in me *drama queen*. Thank you, thank you.

/via tumblr
And for that you guys deserve a picture of the ever so cute Messi.
Mbahaha xD

Pressure aside, now I am comfortably at home and I'm going to ignore the fact that I have to think about what my minor discipline for next semester will be because for all that I care, I am a free woman. And home is no place to think about shitty assignments. Home is where you can be a lazy ass and just lay around everyday.

Right Tigger?
Right Smokee?
(Blame my cats for being great teachers on Sleeping-Till-Noon-101)

These past few days were nicely spent. I attended a wedding, drove Bibik around so that she can buy stuff to bring back with her to Indonesia, and I got to spend time with two of my close friends. As usual we went out at odd hours, in the pouring rain and with no set destination in mind. Ainaa ended up driving around while we argue on where we should go. Yes, stay spontaneous guys, that's why I love you. *shifty eyes*

Popeye's fries are to die for. Seriously. Damn I feel hungry by just posting this.
Yeap, these are the weirdos I've been talkin bout 5 sec ago.
